Trust Score

Definition

Trust Score is a numerical rating (0–100) assigned to a registered Brand during the A2P 10DLC registration process with The Campaign Registry (TCR). This score reflects the perceived reliability and reputation of the brand in the context of messaging compliance—and directly impacts campaign vetting requirements, throughput limits, and in some cases, carrier filtering.

In short: the higher your Trust Score, the smoother your messaging experience is likely to be.

Who Assigns the Trust Score?

Once a Brand is registered through a Campaign Service Provider (CSP), TCR evaluates it in partnership with third-party reputation providers. These providers analyze submitted brand information, such as:

  • EIN / Tax ID
  • Legal business name
  • Type of business (private, public, nonprofit, etc.)
  • Business longevity and credibility
  • Associated domains, websites, and digital footprint

Based on this data, the brand is given a Trust Score from 0 to 100.

Why Does the Trust Score Matter?

Your Trust Score plays a pivotal role in determining:

  • Campaign Vetting Requirements
Brands with lower scores may be subject to additional vetting or scrutiny.
  • Message Throughput Limits
Higher-scoring brands are eligible for higher daily message limits (especially with T-Mobile).
  • Likelihood of Approval
Brands with higher scores are generally considered more trustworthy, making campaign approval more seamless.
  • Filtering Risk
Carriers are more likely to filter traffic associated with low-trust Brands or Campaigns flagged for compliance concerns.

What Affects a Trust Score?

While the full algorithm is proprietary, several factors are known to impact the score:

  • Accuracy of EIN and legal business name
  • Business classification (e.g., public companies often score higher)
  • Age and legitimacy of the business
  • Online presence and domain reputation
  • Any prior history of violations or abuse in the messaging ecosystem

Important: Submitting incorrect or inconsistent Brand info (such as mismatched EINs or typos in the business name) can result in a low score—or even an unverifiable status that blocks further progress.

Can You Improve a Low Trust Score?

Yes, in some cases. If your Brand receives a lower-than-expected score, Telgorithm can help troubleshoot and determine if a resubmission or correction is possible. This may include:

  • Correcting EIN or business name mismatches
  • Updating outdated Brand information
  • Using a valid domain email address (especially for Authentication+)
  • Submitting a vetting appeal (when applicable)
