Zipwhip Warns of Immediate Message Blockages for Unregistered 10DLC Traffic

UPDATE (10/27: Zipwhip moved their A2P 10DLC registration deadline from Thursday, October 27, 2022 to Thursday, November 10, 2022.

After some confusion earlier today, Zipwhip** has confirmed** that their customers’ messages may be blocked starting Thursday, October 27 at 11am PT – less than 24 hours after receiving the notice – if their A2P ten-digit long code, or 10DLC, messaging traffic is not registered with The Campaign Registry (TCR). The first informational advisory we received (via email – see below) noted that this would impact around 2.5K customers, and there would be “no exceptions”. 

In the updated advisory (see below), sent about three hours after the original, Zipwhip clarifies that this only impacts 10DLC traffic, not Toll Free. They include that even though the enforcement is immediate, to “please note that it may take up to five business days for your registration to fully process and to restore messaging capability”. This is such a headache for those affected customers, and with no legitimate or streamlined solution being presented.
